DPS launches resource to ease frustrations of navigating disability options
DPS Publishing has joined the conversation surrounding disability with the launch of two new online platforms and plans to release a printed guide in the new year.
The National Disability Guide website and Talking Disability social spaces are currently in the process of becoming a hub for information, news and interaction from the wider community.
Michelle Beech, General Manager of DPS Publishing says the web-based resources will continue to empower consumers, providers and health professionals with information, products and services that are simple to understand and extremely relevant.
“The disability sector is a growing industry and with the introduction of the NDIS [National Disability Insurance Scheme ed.] we believe the time is now to create a product that will help to ease the frustrations in the industry and produce a product for the community to help at such an important time in their lives,” she explains.
“Our goal is to be known as the leading provider of both disability and aged care information and in the future aim to be the market leader in all care information.”
DPS Publishing has been a market leader for almost 20 years in providing aged care information in Australia through their other sites and publications, AgedCareguide.com.au and the DPS Guides to Aged Care.
Mrs Beech is optimistic that these new platforms will revolutionize the way parents, carers and people living with a disability find information on products and services.
“The website will make it simple and easy to search for a provider, in a particular suburb and all the details required to match to a participant’s NDIS plan will be listed on the provider profiles to ensure they use a provider within the parameters of their plan,” she says.
The DPS Guide to Disability Care publication which will follow a website upgrade will allow consumers to research service providers without having to use an internet connection.
With more ideas planned for the future, Mrs Beech says it’s an exciting time for the organisation and feels “the sky’s the limit” with all the new concepts being rolled out.
“We are continually looking for ways that we can give greater benefit to a wider range of consumers,” she says.
“DPS continues to grow and evolve every day and the release of the National Disability Guide is the first of a host of new concepts we are launching this year.”
