Grants help NDIS provide better supports in regional Victoria

The one-off grants led by the Andrews Labor Government will provide $1.3 million to the Victorian Regional Readiness Fund for grants of up to $130,000 per organisation.

These grants will help organisations deliver disability services to regional and rural communities, help reach local solutions to workforce issues and better support the choices of people with a disability on the NDIS.

Victorian Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Luke Donnellan says these grants will help equip the NDIS with the services and workforce it needs to adequately support people with disability.

“These grants will help rural and regional areas with the transition to the NDIS, building capacity and strengthening the workforce in these areas.”

It will also help address the particular challenges faced by rural and regional Victoria in transitioning to the NDIS, including recruiting qualified staff such as therapists and other specialists and managing services across large areas with small populations.

“This is another fantastic initiative delivered by the Andrews Labor Government, which will help support Victoria’s disability service providers and their highly-skilled workers, through the NDIS transition,” Minister Donnellan says.

Not-for-profit organisations, community groups, businesses, higher education and training institutions, local Government and other organisations are encouraged to apply for the grants which close at 5pm on Wednesday 12 June 2019.
